Venous ulceration is an advanced form of venous insufficiency. Venous ulcers are characterized by open wounds or sores, which can lead to significant pain, disability and infection. The underlying causes of venous ulcers are commonly related to venous insufficiency in the saphenous vein (thigh), perforators (ankle), or from severe varicose veins. All of which can be definitively treated at the vein center.
